SPREADER CHAIN REPLACEMENT - CONTINUED

CHAIN ADJUSTER VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT (ARMY AND RESET ONLY)
1.
Close tophandler spreader to 20-ft position.
2.
Check angle of pull on chain (19) in relation to spreader motor sprocket.
3.
If chain is pulling upward, adjust vertical adjustment on chain adjuster down until pull is straight.
4.
If chain is pulling downward, adjust vertical adjustment on chain adjuster up until the pull is straight.
NOTE
Chain has vertical adjustment in only one direction. It may be necessary to reconfigure the chain
adjuster as follows to gain adjustment in the other direction.
a.
Loosen and remove chain adjuster from mounting flange. Mark adjustment position
before removing.
b. Remove vertical adjustment bolt.
c. Separate two parts and rotate adjusting screw side.
d. Reassemble two parts and install bolt, nut, and washers.
e. Install the chain adjuster back onto mounting at original position.
