CYLINDER BLOCK REPAIR - CONTINUED
Visually inspect cylinder liners as follows:
If the conditions in steps a thru d are found, replace liner.
Cracks under liner flange.
Corrosion or pitting on outside diameter.
Scuffing or scoring on inside diameter.
Inspect inside diameter for vertical scratches. If fingernail catches in scratch, liner must be replaced.
Inspect inside diameter for bore polishing. If a heavy polish is present over 20 percent of piston ring travel area,
Visually inspect for cracks or damage in these areas of cylinder block:
Cylinder head mounting surface.
Upper liner bore.
Lower liner bore.
All measurements of cylinder block MUST be made when block is positioned on a flat surface. If
block is mounted on engine stand, measurements can be wrong due to distortion. If any measurements
are not as specified, cylinder block must be replaced.
Measure cylinder block upper liner bore inside diameter (ID). Measurement "A" must be 5.7441 to 5.7491 in. (145.900
to 146.027 mm).
Measure liner seal bore inside diameter 0.32 to 0.53 in. (8.0 to 13.5 mm) below counterbore. Measurement "B" must be
5.4355 to 5.4375 in. (138.063 to 138.113 mm).
