PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT - CONTINUED
PREPARATION FOR LONG-TERM STORAGE
Perform Operator PMCS (TM 10-3930-675-10).
Schedule next PMCS on ULLS-G.
Thoroughly clean vehicle.
Inspect vehicle for corrosion. Use touch-up paint where necessary to prevent rust.
Store vehicle indoors in a dry, protected area with boom fully lowered and retracted and with tophandler resting on crib-
bing or other suitable supporting device. Exercise joystick through all positions after engine shutdown to relieve any
pressure in hydraulic circuits (TM 10-3930-675-10).
Coat all exposed hydraulic cylinder rods with Grease, Automotive and Artillery, GAA (Item 20, WP 0290 00) to protect
If vehicle has accumulated very low mileage since its last scheduled lubrication service, DO NOT
drain and refill transmission and axles; skip step 8.
Drain and refill transmission and axles with new oil (WP 0050 00).
Drain engine crankcase and refill with recommended oil (WP 0050 00).
Completely drain fuel tank. Mix a solution of Fuel, Diesel, DF-2 Grade (Item 18, WP 0290 00) and flushing oil per
instructions supplied with flushing oil. Pour mixture into fuel tank. Run engine for at least 10 minutes on this solution.
Before shutting down engine, treat upper cylinders by spraying recommended engine oil into air intake for about two
minutes. Open throttle momentarily, shut engine down, and continue spraying oil into air intake until engine comes to a
Check engine coolant to ensure coolant has correct mixture for expected temperatures (TB 750-651).
Seal all openings in engine, including air intake, exhaust outlet, and crankcase breather tube.
Ensure master battery switch is in OFF position (TM 10-3930-675-10).
Remove batteries (WP 0108 00). Clean batteries and ensure they are fully charged (TM 9-6140-200-14).
Completely drain fuel tank.
Close cab rear window and door.
Place blocking under axles to remove weight from tires.
Relieve hydraulic system pressure. Be sure to close evacuation valves after pressure is relieved (WP 0164 00).
Fill in Form DD 1397 completely and attach to a conspicuous part of vehicle.
PREPARATION FOR RETURN TO SERVICE FROM LONG-TERM STORAGE
Ensure tires are inflated to 85 psi (586 kPa).
Remove blocking from under axles.
Remove GAA grease from exposed hydraulic cylinder rods. Wipe rods clean with a Rag, Wiping (Item 30, WP 0290 00)
dipped in Oil, Lubricating, OE/HDO 10 (Item 26, WP 0290 00).
Fill fuel tank with fuel (TM 10-3930-675-10).
