b. Remove capscrews (4) securing thrust plate (3).
Repeat steps a and b for remaining tappets.
Remove thrust plate (3).
Carefully remove camshaft (2) from engine.
1. INSPECT THE FUEL PUMP LOBE, VALVE LOBES
d. Remove gear (1) and pin (5) from camshaft
using suitable puller.
3. REMOVE TAPPETS (6).
2. INSPECT GEAR (1) TEETH FOR WEAR AND
DAMAGE. LOOK FOR CRACKS AT ROOT OF

3. MEASURE BEARING JOURNALS AND VALVE
