CLEANING
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 type III is toxic and flammable. Wear protective goggles and gloves
and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes and do not
breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flames or excessive heat. The solvent's flash point is
200F (94C). If you become dizzy while using dry cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and
get medical aid. If solvent contacts eyes, wash your eyes and get medical aid immediately.
Compressed air used for cleaning or drying purposes, or for clearing restrictions, should never
exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Use protective equipment and exercise caution to avoid injury to person-
nel.
NOTE
Cleaning procedures for camshaft idler gear are applicable to all idler gears and camshaft drive
gear.
Ensure all components have been tagged or marked for location and identification.
1.
Clean all components of camshaft idler gear with solvent and dry with compressed air.
2.
Use solvent and compressed air to clean oil drillings of gear shaft.
INSPECTION
1.
Inspect all retaining screws with a straightedge for evidence of "necking". If necking is observed, retaining screws
MUST be replaced.
