1. ALTERNATOR INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON - ALTERNATOR IS NOT CHARGING
Step 1. Inspect drive belt.
Adjust/replace. (See page 2-252.)
Step 2. Check battery connections.
Clean/tighten. (See page 2-272.)
2. ALTERNATOR IS NOISY
Step 1. Inspect drive belt for damage or wear.
Replace. (See page 2-252.)
Step 2. Inspect alternator drive pulley keyway.
Replace drive pulley if keyway is worn and pulley is loose. (See page 2-252.)
Step 3. Check alinement of pulley and drive belt.
Aline. (See page 2-252.)
3. BLACK OR GRAY SMOKE FROM EXHAUST
Inspect cleaner for obstructions.
Service. (See page 2-198.)
4. COOLANT IN LUBE OIL
Inspect engine oil cooler.
Notify direct support.
