TM 10-3930-675-20-20120 00-2PARKING BRAKE PADS MAINTENANCE - CONTINUED0120 00REMOVAL - CONTINUED3.Retract adjustment cylinder (2) into piston (9) by prying between adjustment cylinder and one brake pad (10).NOTEOnly one of two bolts needs to be removed in order to remove brake pads.4.Remove cotter pin (13) from one of two castle nuts (14). Discard cotter pin.5.Remove castle nut (14) and bolt (12) from parking brake housing (3) and parking brake bracket (1).NOTEOne brake pad is held in place by a magnet.6.Remove two brake pads (10) from parking brake housing (3) and parking brake rotor (11).CLEANING AND INSPECTION1.Clean brake pads with detergent, clear water, and rags. Rinse with clear water and dry surfaces with rags.2.Check for damage to brake pads. Replace if damaged.3.Check thickness of brake lining of each brake pad, using a feeler gage as a basis for comparison. Brake lining must be atleast 0.080 in (2 mm) thick.
