Replacement Procedure.
(1)
Remove damaged diamond plate deck plate by drilling out rivets.
(2)
Clean areas of the CROP where the new deck will be secured and, if the galvanization has
been damaged, repair galvanization in accordance with paragraph 5-7, section C "Galva-
nized Coating Replacement" or Zinc-rich paint or aerosol spray (NSN 8010-00-501-
5798).
(3)
Using the damaged deck plate as a guide, mark the location of the old rivet holes on the
new section of diamond plate.
(4)
Measure approximately 1 inch from the old rivet hole marks along the edge of the new dia-
mond plate or in line with the subassembly of the CROP (so that when the hole is drilled
through the diamond plate, you're also drilling through the subassembly of the CROP) and
mark the location of the new rivet with a center punch. Mark the diamond plate in an area
where the rivet is not passing through a raised portion of the diamond plate.
(5)
Place and secure the new diamond plate onto the CROP and secure using clamps. Butt
joint as close as possible.
(6)
Drill through diamond plate and CROP structure at the new rivet position.
(7)
Deburr only the top surface of the diamond plate if needed.
