NOTE
Be sure bearing tab (3) is properly seated in
groove in bearing cap.
5.
Bearing clearance
Using plastigage (4), check as follows:
a. Put plastigage in position as shown at right.
b. Coat threads of cap bolts with clean engine
oil.
c.
Install the cap and tighten cap nuts finger
tight.
NOTE
Be sure you have the right cap and be sure
it is installed correctly. The flat side of each
cap must face toward the middle of the
crankshaft journal.
