BRAKE AND STEERING ACCUMULATOR SERVICE - CONTINUED

CHECKING STEERING ACCUMULATOR PRE-CHARGE PRESSURE
NOTE
It may be necessary to remove screws, washers, and brackets securing hoses to release hoses to gain
access to valve protector.
1.
Remove two screws (6) and valve protector (5) from valve end of steering accumulator (8).
2.
Remove cap (9) from valve (7).
3.
Connect hose assembly of nitrogen charging kit to valve (7).

Slowly open pressure regulator valve.
5.
Take pressure reading from low pressure gage. Pre-charge pressure for steering accumulator must be 1,450 psi (100
bar). If pressure is OK, close pressure regulator valve.
NOTE
If pressure reading on low pressure gage is less than 1,450 psi (100 bar), perform Steering Accumulator
Charging.
6.
If pressure reading on low pressure gage is more than 1,450 psi (100 bar), bleed off excess pressure using bleeder valve,
then close pressure regulator valve.
7.
Disconnect hose assembly of nitrogen charging kit from valve (7).
8.
Install cap (9) on valve (7).
9.
Perform a soapsuds leak check at valve end of steering accumulator (8).
10.
Install valve protector (5) on valve end of steering accumulator (8) with two screws (6).
