PREPARATION FOR LONG-TERM STORAGE
1.
Perform Operator Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) (TM 10-3930-675-10).
2.
Perform Organizational PMCS (WP 0050 00).
3.
Schedule next PMCS on ULLS-G.
4.
Thoroughly clean vehicle.
5.
Inspect vehicle for corrosion. Use touch-up paint where necessary to prevent rust.
6.
Store vehicle indoors in a dry, protected area with boom fully lowered and retracted and with tophandler resting on crib-
bing or other suitable supporting device. Exercise joystick thru all positions after engine shutdown to relieve any pres-
sure in hydraulic circuits (TM 10-3930-675-10).
7.
Coat all exposed hydraulic cylinder rods with GAA grease (Item 16, WP 0203 00) to protect polished surfaces.
NOTE
If vehicle has accumulated very low mileage since its last scheduled lubrication service, do not drain and
refill transmission and axles; skip step 8.
8.
Drain and refill transmission and axles with new oil (LO 10-3930-675-12).
9.
Drain engine crankcase and refill with recommended oil (LO 10-3930-675-12).
10.
Completely drain fuel tank. Mix a solution of diesel fuel (Item 14, WP 0203 00) and flushing oil per instructions sup-
plied with flushing oil. Pour mixture into fuel tank. Run engine for at least 10 minutes on this solution.
11.
Before shutting down engine, treat upper cylinders by spraying recommended engine oil into air intake for about two
minutes. Open throttle momentarily, shut engine down, and continue spraying oil into air intake until engine comes to a
stop.
12.
Check engine coolant to ensure coolant has correct mixture for expected temperatures (TB 750-651).
13.
Seal all openings in engine, including air intake, exhaust outlet, and crankcase breather tube.
14.
Loosen or remove alternator drive belt and air conditioning compressor drive belts (WP 0070 00 and WP 0189 00).
15.
Ensure master battery switch is in OFF position (TM 10-3930-675-10).
16.
Remove batteries (WP 0107 00). Clean batteries and ensure they are fully charged (TM 9-6140-200-14).
17.
Completely drain fuel tank.
18.
Close cab rear window and door.
19.
Ensure engine cover is installed and latched (WP 0143 00).
20.
Place blocking under axles to remove weight from tires.
21.
Relieve hydraulic system pressure. Be sure to close evacuation valves after pressure is relieved (WP 0164 00).
22.
Fill in Form DD 1397 completely and attach to a conspicuous part of vehicle.
PREPARATION FOR RETURN TO SERVICE FROM LONG-TERM STORAGE
1.
Ensure tires are inflated to 85 psi (586 kPa).
2.
Remove blocking from under axles.
3.
Remove GAA grease from exposed hydraulic cylinder rods. Wipe rods clean with a rag (Item 22, WP 0203 00) dipped
in lubricating oil (Item 19, WP 0203 00).
4.
Fill fuel tank with fuel (TM 10-3930-675-10).
5.
Check oil and hydraulic fluid levels in engine crankcase, transmission, axle differentials, wheel hub ends, hydraulic res-
ervoir, and tophandler slewing and spreader motors (LO 10-3930-675-12).
