BOOM FOLDING CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - CONTINUED

CAUTION
Wipe area clean around all hydraulic connections prior to disconnecting. Cap or plug all openings
after disconnecting. Contamination of hydraulic system could result in equipment failure.
NOTE
Boom folding cylinders are replaced in same manner.
Tag all hydraulic lines.
Measure and record overall length of cylinder prior to removal. The recorded measurement will
aid in cylinder adjustment procedures after installation.
REMOVAL
1.
Remove hose clamp (7) from cylinder (8).
WARNING
Wear eye protection and have a rag handy when disconnecting hydraulic lines to boom folding cylin-
der. Failure to do so may result in eye injury due to residual hydraulic pressure in lines.
2.
Disconnect two hydraulic hoses (6) from cylinder (8).
WARNING
Boom folding cylinder weighs 132 lb (60 kg). Lifting device must have sufficient capacity to lift cylin-
der. Failure to follow this warning may result in death or injury to personnel.
3.
Attach a nylon sling and suitable lifting device to cylinder (8).
4.
At one end of cylinder (8), remove screw (1) and washer (2).
5.
Remove pin (3). Remove grease fitting (4) from pin.
6.
Remove and discard two O-rings (5) only if damaged.
7.
Repeat steps 4 thru 6 for opposite end of cylinder (8).
8.
Remove cylinder (8) from vehicle.
