Measure piston pin outside diameter and length as shown. Length should be 4.0039 to 4.0157 in. (101.70 to 102.00
mm). Outside diameter should be 2.1259 to 2.1261 in. (53.997 to 54.003 mm). If piston pin is not within specification,
replace piston pin.

Visually inspect piston cooling nozzle for damage and a nominal length of 1.752 in. (44.5 mm). Replace if defective.
NOTE
Normal bearing wear produces a smooth finish which will wear into copper lining. Exposed copper
does NOT always indicate worn bearings.
13.
Visually inspect connecting rod bearings. Replace bearings with any of these conditions:
a.
Pitting
b.
Flaking
c.
Corrosion
d.
Lock tang damage
e.
Scratches (deep enough to be felt with a fingernail)
14.
Measure connecting rod bearing thickness at three locations on each edge of bearing. Measurement should be 0.0957 to
0.974 in. (2.430 to 2.473 mm). If not as specified, replace bearing.
