NOTE
If new bearings are not being used, ensure bearings and connecting rod cap are matched as
marked during removal and disassembly.
Tang of bearing MUST be in slot of connecting rod cap and end of bearing MUST be even with
cap mounting surface.
12.
Install lower bearing (7) in matching connecting rod cap (5).
13.
Apply lubriplate to inside diameter of lower bearing (7).
14.
Apply clean engine oil to threads of connecting rod capscrews (4).

NOTE
Connecting rod and rod cap MUST have same stamped number and be installed in same cylinder
from which they were removed.
Connecting rod and rod cap stamped number MUST be on same side.
15.
Install connecting rod cap and two capscrews. Tighten as follows:
a.
Tighten capscrews to 50 lb-ft (68 Nm).
b.
Tighten to 105 lb-ft (142 Nm).
c.
Tighten to 155 lb-ft (210 Nm).
d.
Loosen capscrews completely.
e.
Repeat steps a thru c.
