Install connecting rod guide pins.

Compress piston rings with piston ring compressor.

Using accessory drive, rotate crankshaft so connecting rod journal of piston rod assembly being installed is at BDC.
8.
Insert piston and connecting rod assembly through cylinder liner, with bearing tang toward camshaft side of engine,
until ring compressor contacts top of liner.
CAUTION
DO NOT use metal drift to push piston and connecting rod assembly into cylinder liner. Piston rings
or cylinder liner may be damaged.
NOTE
If piston does not move freely, remove and inspect for broken or damaged rings.
9.
Hold ring compressor against cylinder liner. Push piston through ring compressor into cylinder liner until top ring is
completely in cylinder liner.
10.
Use guide pins to align connecting rod with crankshaft while pushing piston and connecting rod assembly in place.
11.
Remove guide pins.
