WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 type III is toxic and flammable. Wear protective goggles and gloves and
use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes and do not breathe
vapors. DO NOT use near open flames or excessive heat. The solvent's flash point is 200F (94C). If
you become dizzy while using dry cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and get medical aid. If
solvent contacts eyes, wash your eyes and get medical aid immediately.

Clean valve guide bore with solvent and brush to remove deposits.
5.
Clean valve seat insert bores with solvent and brush to remove deposits.
INSPECTION
1.
Visually inspect valve springs, valve spring retainers, and valve spring wear plates for damage or worn areas. Discard
damaged or worn parts.
2.
Measure valve spring free height. Spring height is 4.0669 in. (103.30 mm).
3.
Using valve spring tester, measure valve spring working load at a working height of 2.8142 in (71.48 mm). If spring
load is not as listed below, discard spring.

Min. 281 lb-ft (381 Nm)
b.
Max. 356 lb-ft (482 Nm)
4.
Visually inspect valves and collet grooves for damage. If damaged, replace valve.
5.
Measure outside diameter (OD) of valve stem. If valve stem is not within limits, replace valve.
a.
Min. OD 0.3772 in. (9.580 mm)
b.
Max. OD 0.3793 in. (9.633 mm)
6.
Place valve on flat surface and measure head thickness. If valve head thickness is not within limits, replace valve.
a.
Min. 0.124 in. (3.15 mm)
b.
Max. 0.143 in. (3.62 mm)
