REMOVAL - CONTINUED
1.
Remove piston cooling nozzle (1) as follows:
a.
Remove screw (2) and washer (3) securing cooling nozzle (1).
b.
Remove cooling nozzle (1). Retain for installation.
c.
Rotate crankshaft to access next cooling nozzle for removal.
d.
Repeat steps a thru c to remove remaining cooling nozzles.

Using accessory drive, bar engine over to position piston at bottom dead center (BDC).
BOTTOM DEAD CENTER POSITION
CAUTION
DO NOT use emery cloth or sandpaper to remove carbon from cylinder liners or cylinder block top
deck surface. Aluminum oxide or silicon particles from emery cloth or sandpaper can cause serious
engine damage.
3.
Using 1, clean carbon ridge from cylinder liner, above ring travel area, in cylinder liner of piston being removed.
