CRANKSHAFT REPLACEMENT - CONTINUED

REMOVAL - CONTINUED
CAUTION
No. 4 main bearing cap is doweled to block. To avoid damage to cylinder block, DO NOT rock cap to
remove.
2.
Remove 14 main bearing capscrews (2) and washers (1).
NOTE
Main bearing cap puller must be centered on cap.
3.
Remove seven main bearing caps (4) with lower bearing shells (3).

CAUTION
DO NOT mark main bearings on crankshaft mating surface. Possible damage to engine may occur if
bearings are reused.
4.
Remove seven lower bearing shells (3) from main bearing caps (4) and mark bearing for location as shown.
