REMOVAL
1.
Use accessory driveshaft to rotate crankshaft until timing marks on crankshaft gear, camshaft gear, and accessory drive
gear are completely engaged in camshaft idler gear as shown.

Remove camshaft idler gear as follows:
NOTE
It may be necessary to tap camshaft idler gear with a plastic-faced hammer to loosen gear.
Ensure all components are tagged for identification and location.
a.
Remove three screws (6) securing cover plate (5) and front thrust bearing (4).
b.
Remove camshaft idler gear (1), rear thrust bearing (4), idler gear shaft (2), and wear plate (3).
