Install water pump idler gear as follows:
CAUTION
To prevent damage to gear and engine during operation, position rear thrust bearing with grooved
side toward idler gear.
a.
Apply a light coating of lubriplate to rear thrust bearing (16) and idler gear shaft (15).
b.
Install rear thrust bearing (16) and water pump idler gear (14) without idler gear shaft (15).
c.
Align bore of idler gear (14) with bore of rear thrust bearing (16).
d.
Install idler gear shaft (15) through idler gear (14) and rear thrust bearing (16) bores.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to gear and engine during operation, position front thrust bearing with grooved
side toward idler gear.
e.
Install front thrust bearing (16), cover plate (18), and three screws (17). Tighten screws to 45 lb-ft (61 Nm).
