INSTALLATION - CONTINUED
WARNING
Use protective clothing when handling heated or hot components. Failure to use protective clothing to
handle heated or hot components will cause serious burns.
CAUTION
Camshaft drive gear timing marks and part number MUST be facing away from camshaft when gear
is installed.
NOTE
Camshaft drive gear MUST be heated to 450F (235C) for a minimum of one and not more than six
hours. Installation must be accomplished within 30 seconds or gear may need to be reheated.

Align heated camshaft gear keyway with key in camshaft. Install camshaft drive gear (19) on camshaft.

Install C-clamp to hold camshaft drive gear (19) in place and allow it to cool. Remove C-clamp only after camshaft
drive gear has cooled to room temperature.

Using dial indicator, verify camshaft drive gear end clearance is within specification of 0.005 to 0.013 in. (0.13 to
0.33 mm).
