IDLER GEARS AND CAMSHAFT DRIVE GEAR REPLACEMENT - CONTINUED

INSTALLATION
1.
Install camshaft idler gear as follows:
CAUTION
To prevent damage to gear and engine during operation, position rear thrust bearing with grooved
side toward idler gear.
a.
Apply a light coating of lubriplate to wear plate (3), rear thrust bearing (4), and camshaft idler gear (1).
b.
Install wear plate (3), rear thrust bearing (4), and idler gear shaft (2).

c.
Align camshaft idler gear (1) and position on idler gear shaft (2) so timing marks on idler gear match marks on
other gears as shown.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to gear and engine during operation, position front thrust bearing with grooved
side toward idler gear.
d.
Install front thrust bearing (4) and cover plate (5). Secure with three screws (6). Tighten screws to 45 lb-ft (61
Nm).
