CLEANING
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 type III is toxic and flammable. Wear protective goggles and gloves
and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes and DO NOT
breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flames or excessive heat. The solvent's flash point is
200F (94C). If you become dizzy while using dry cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and
get medical aid. If solvent contacts eyes, wash your eyes and get medical aid immediately.
Compressed air used for cleaning or drying purposes, or for clearing restrictions, should never
exceed 30 psi (207 kPa). Use protective equipment and exercise caution to avoid injury to person-
nel.
NOTE
Ensure all components are cleaned and oil passages free of debris.
1.
Clean cam follower levers and shafts with solvent and dry with compressed air.
2.
Clean cam follower studs and oil passages with solvent and dry with compressed air.
INSPECTION
1.
Visually inspect components as follows:
a.
Visually inspect cam follower shafts for scoring or damage. If scoring or damage are found, replace.
b.
Visually inspect cam follower levers for cracks or damage. If cracks or damage are found, replace.
c.
Visually inspect cam follower shaft supports for cracks or damage. If found, replace supports.
2.
Measure outside diameter of cam follower shaft journals. Measurement must be 1.3382 to 1.3389 in. (33.991 to 34.009
mm). If not as specified, replace shaft.
3.
Measure inside diameter of cam follower lever shaft bore. Measurement must be 1.3420 to 1.3431 in. (34.086 to 34.116
mm). If not as specified, replace cam follower lever.
